Urban Village Radio is Atlanta's first youth-led online radio show focused on addressing education in Metro Atlanta.

EdConnect is excited to announce its sponsorship of Urban Village Radio and to share that the founder of Urban Village Radio, Kwasida, will be a presenter at this year’s Parent Impact Conference.

Urban Village Radio is Atlanta's first youth-led online radio show focused on addressing education in Metro Atlanta. The goal of the program is to encourage low-income youth to use their voices to reform education.

EdConnect’s founder, Dr. LeSure, talks about how far the Urban Village Radio project has come, "I remember when this was a vision. I was sitting in Ruby Tuesdays with Kwasida talking over a salad for three hours on the need to include student voice to drive change… I am proud to support this work and to see it grow."

The program’s current project takes place at King Middle School where students ask their classmates what issues they would like changed in school using a 7 step advocacy cycle. Urban Village Radio also offers a chance for Metro Atlanta students from 3rd-6th grade to broadcast their own stories with the Storytellers Writer’s Workshop.

This is an exciting sponsorship that EdConnect is taking part in and we look forward to hearing Kwasida present at the conference on September 10th.
